For the next episode of The 50 State pursuit, Justus and I head to the state of New Mexico to chase after some of the states native trout species. Finding these species of trout is not always easy, but the hunt can be rewarding. I had a random day to get some trout fishing in and decided to check out a fork of a river that I haven't fished in quite some time. It's a pretty easy drive from my house and it seemed perfect for a quick summer day trip. Upon arriving I found that the road was blocked and in order to park there and hike in, I needed a permit that I didn't bring with me. I tried to fish the main river but found it packed with people.

Join me on an exciting fishing trip to a hidden mountain stream where I target big Yellowstone cutthroat trout and Alaskan-sized grayling during the summer. I used dry flies like hoppers and tried streamers and nymphs to catch these amazing fish. Watch as I cast my line and enjoy the beauty of nature while trying to land some impressive catches. This creek runs through the desert and crawls with 24-inch+ cutthroat trout, brook trout, whitefish, and grayling.

The green river is one of the worlds most famous rivers. The river is said to have over 15,000 fish per mile. This is one of the highest concentration of trout in the world! In addition, the scenery on the green is breathtaking. Many people miss fish because they are busy looking at the thousand foot canyon walls on either side of the river.
