I am launching this video a day earlier than expected here on YouTube. This is the film from my recent trip to Wyoming where we covered 80 miles in 8 days of hiking to reach some of the most untouched waters in the state.

In this adventure, we’re backpacking deep into the wilderness, exploring untouched waters in search of bull trout and cutthroat. The storms were intense, but that didn’t stop us from landing some incredible fish. Join us as we navigate the unknown and experience some of the best fly fishing the backcountry has to offer. When you think about Fly Fishing for Trout, you think chalk streams, reservoirs and exclusive stretches of river in the heart of the countryside surrounded by serenity and tranquility. When Robbie Northman thinks about Fly Fishing for Trout he thinks urban environments hold some of the most underrated venues in the country and most of the trout populations in these areas are mostly unfitted for, meaning they can grow to exceptional sizes and provide spectacular fly fishing sport.

On a recent road trip, I decided to carry a camera and share a short day of wade fishing in the Gallatin River Canyon. We had never been there before but wanted to do some wade fishing while on a recent trip touring colleges in Montana for my older son. Our preference is always to wade vs. float on these trips, as it's so fun to divide and conquer and everyone can fish the style they like at their own pace.

A wild 16th birthday wish turned into more driving than fishing in an attempt to help my son Andrew find a "big" fish. Steelhead was the target species which is never an easy target! As he continues along the path of a fly angler it's amazing to see the adventures that continue to emerge as he grows and changes. We hope you enjoy this fly fishing adventure!
